The CARA sequestered, in 2019, assets worth over 2 billion lei, including luxury cars, banking accounts, as well as aircrafts

The Criminal Assets Recovery Agency within the NAC, have preserved, by applying the sequester, 803 of assets, that proceed from crimes, in a total value of 2,614,862,781 lei. The data are mentioned in the CARA activity report for 219.
During the mentioned period, the Agency received, for execution, delegates targeting 434 subjects, investigated in 190 criminal cases for committing different crimes. The delegates were received from the specialized territorial Offices of Prosecution from Comrat, Balti, Soldanesti, Chisinau, Nisporeni, Orhei, the NAC, General Inspectorate of the Border Police and the Police Department from Soldanesti.
After the type of the sequestered assets by the Agency, on the first place are the means of transport (201), followed by the agricultural land (140), banking accounts (66), non-residential buildings (60), residential (59), land for construction (58), aircrafts, shares, etc. According to the procedures, the assets are estimated, while the money received from their selling are transferred to the state budget.
We remind that the Criminal Assets Recovery Agency is the NAC autonomous subdivision which attributes are performing parallel financial investigations, preserving, evaluating, administrating, estimating criminal assets, as well as negotiating the repatriation of criminal assets.
